When I think of that weekend there, it was filled with laughter, mouthwatering food at brunch at Singlend, and the warmth of friendships at Bobbys Beers. Over the weekend, I experienced some great moments in this group with amazing people. From brunch with a Bloody Mary to films at the GFT that had us in stitches (A Real Pain) and made us think (Nickel Boys), what a magical way of bringing people together. So, grab a comfy blanket and settle in as I take you through our weekend at Glasgow Social Events!

Friday Cinema Afternoon

With the weather outside being sub zero temperatures, it was lovely to have a movie afternoon at the GFT. We were in the cosy comfy GFT3, drinking wine and looking forward to two great films. We saw Nickel Boys followed by A Real Pain and a hilarious 3 minute short film called Ball.

The cinema was pretty much full for both films which was great to see. The ticket price on a Friday afternoon is a bargain which attracts a lot of people. Nickel Boys was shot from a characters point of view which at times was quite motion sickness provoking but on the whole is a very well made immersive film and thought provoking. A Real Pain was a great comedy/drama based on two cousins journeying in Poland. Well worth seeing.

This was one of those afternoons of sheer escapism – relaxing in the cinema with good company and chatting about the film afterwards.

The Perfect Brunch

On that cold Saturday morning, 12 of us kicked off the weekend with a delightful brunch at Singlend in Garnethill. As we entered, we were greeted by the cheerful clattering of utensils and the inviting smell of freshly brewed coffee. I can still recall the joy of my first bite of The Betty (sourdough toast with chilli avocado smash, halloumi cheese and poached egg) – pure bliss!

As we savoured our meals, laughter filled the air as we shared stories, some so funny they had us howling. The charming atmosphere amplified our experience; the cakes looked amazing, making it the ideal venue for our brunch.

It was lovely company over both tables and great to see all the clean plates. Moments like this – filled with laughter and great food – remind us of the little pleasures that make our group special.

Bobbys Beers and Charitable Cheers

What could top the brunch on Saturday? Enjoying Bobbys Beer with friends! We imported the Hielan Laddie Black IPA named after our Organiser Johns late brother in law Bobby from Spectrum Bier in Amsterdam and held an event to toast Bobby and raise some money for The Paras of which Bobby was part of. The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter and conversation that flowed from table to table in Van Winkle West private function room which they kindly let us have use of.

We sampled the IPA, unique in flavour. What made this event even better was that the guests donated money to charity. Sharing this experience with others created an awesome sense of community and purpose and we raised over £300 for The Paras.

This event wasn’t just about drinking beer; it was a wonderful opportunity to connect with others while supporting a good cause and remembering Bobby.

The Value of Connection

Across brunch, cinema afternoon and Bobbys Beers, one theme shines through: the value of connection. Each event in Glasgow has provided more than just entertainment; they deepen friendships and introduce new faces to the group.

The beauty of these experiences lies in the shared stories. We aren't just eating and drinking; we are sharing laughter and memories worth holding onto. Each event proves that life is meant to be enjoyed together, celebrating connections.

Reflecting on A Great Weekend

As I think back on our memorable weekend with Glasgow Social Events, it becomes clear that it’s not just the activities that create joyful memories, but the people we share them with. Whether it’s brunching, watching a film, or raising our glasses for a charity, every moment is rich with joy, laughter and the connections we make.

Remember, it’s not just about what you do, but who you share these moments with. Whether you are indulging in a meal, enjoying a good laugh, or having a drink or 2, cherish every moment. These are the types of experiences that enrich our lives and fill our hearts. Here’s to creating even more memories in the future!
