Leaving the theatre at the interval

Last night I did something I haven't done in years.

I left the theatre at the interval.

I was at the Kings in Glasgow watching Now That's What I Call A Musical starring Sonia from the 80s.

At the interval Sonia had still not appeared on stage. I know she is wee but I don't think I overlooked her.

There was nothing actually wrong with the cast - they were good singers and actors. There was a distinct lack of storyline and it jumped back and forward in time.

The main story was a school reunion twenty years later and whether one of the girls who had gone to LA to be a famous actress would turn up or not.

I left at the interval not caring whether she did or not.

Also I hated the cheesy slotting in of songs to the story - girl working in a video shop so let's sing Video Killed The Radio Star.

Not for me so i left at the interval.

It also didn't help that the red wine I ordered through "Deliver To Seat" had burst in the paper bag soaking my skirt, the floor and all the way into my shoe giving me an uncomfortable soggy wine soaked feeling.

The staff at the theatre were quick to replace my wine and programme that had also been soaked and whilst she was away getting some "blue roll" to clean up the floor folk were mistaking me for working at the theatre and asking directions to their seat.

I of course was very helpful and told them where their seats were.

Thanks to all who came along last night for the good company.

So my question is. Was I right to leave or should I have waited it out? Some people walked out during the show. Should I have done that? I felt that was rude to the people in the group who I was with.

Shows I have previously left at the interval

Captain Corelli's Mandolin (one man puppet show - didn't know that when I booked it)

Godspell

Take That The Musical
