The excitement for the weekend began with a beautiful sunny crisp day. Starting on Friday we gathered together, shaking off the workweek, ready for a laugh. This weekend held the promise of great activities, laughter, and making connections. Join us as we highlight the top moments from our weekend, encouraging you to join us for the next exciting events!
Setting the Stage for Laughter
As Friday arrived, the air buzzed with anticipation. After a week filled with responsibilities, we kicked off the weekend with a visit to Glasgow International Comedy Festival at Van Winkle West for the Scottish Comedians afternoon where we had 4 comedians that we didn't know beforehand who they were. We were welcomed by the host Ross Leslie and enjoyed an afternoon of laughter topped by Mark Nelson headlining the show.

To finish off our Fun Friday, we went to Barrioke. The music was great as we watched folk get up on stage with Shaun Williamson (Aka Barry from Eastenders), with songs from Status Quo, Abba, Johnny Cash and many more. The evening flew in and was great fun.
Saturday Lunch
Saturday greeted us again with clear blue skies. Our packed agenda promised a delightful day. We started at a favourite Scottish restaurant of ours - Mharsanta in Merchant City. Featuring a stunning menu full of Scottish food we had difficulty in choosing our lunch. The restaurant was busy with great service, and we couldn’t resist exploring the Scottish themed cocktail menu. At £19.50 for 2 courses and large portions this is a great place to visit.
I had the medley of mushrooms on toasted bloomer bread as a starter then for my main course I had a traditional Crofters Pie packed full of minced beef and haggis in gravy. Plenty of choice and variety on the set lunch menu.
Having great company at the lunch table enriched our experience. There were ten of us in total and the conversation just flowed.

Theatre Matinee: A View From The Bridge
After lunch some of us headed to the internationally respected and critically acclaimed Tron Theatre, well known for producing and presenting outstanding contemporary theatre. We met up in the Tron Bar before the show catching up with each other while enjoying a glass of wine. The bar was busy and created a real buzz before the show.
The matinee show was A View From The Bridge by Arthur Miller and was shown in the main theatre. This was the directorial debut from Jemima Levick as the new Artistic Director of the Tron. The play is a classic about illicit desire, immigration and family. It was a superb production with a fantastic cast where every glance and every look was loaded with meaning.
