My weekend kicked off with the Ayrshire Book Group on Thursday night. Always a favourite night of the month so despite being miserable with a cold I went along. What a great laugh with so many nice people coming along. The book had mixed opinions which is always good and it seemed an easy read. It was the day after my birthday - Birthday Boxing Day - so I appreciated the birthday banners decorating the pub and the drinks bought and gifts received 🙏

Friday was double cinema day and first up was Conclave at the GFT. Arrived in good time for the film as I wanted to collect my Film Festival tickets however the sign on the door said the Film Theatre wasn't opening until 12.40pm 😒so rather than stand about being buffeted by the wind and rain I gathered the troops and we went to the Butterfly & Pig for a pre film Prosecco 🥂

We had a great turnout for a Friday afternoon film - in fact the cinema itself was pretty busy. It's a great deal on tickets so that could be why. I did laugh when the person sitting next to me from our group was saying she had listened to our podcast about theatre and cinema etiquette and made sure the sandwich she had brought was "not smelly or noisy" and she was right it wasn't!! I wish the couple who came in just as the film started were as thoughtful. They came in as the plot began to unfold at the start, loudly talking to each other, putting the torch on their phone to find a seat and I think they must have hit something on their phone as an automated voice started coming out the phone (Google Maps maybe?) Of course they couldn't just switch it off they had to have a big conversation about it. SHUT IT!! LET ME WATCH THE FILM!! 😡

Conclave was great! Superb actors and a great plot. Really enjoyed it. Think we all did. Some of us went to discuss it afterwards over some cocktails at the Maldron. 🍸

Next up on Friday was our Private Screening of Bridget Jones; Mad About The Boy at Cineworld.

Although it isn't the first private screening we have done with the group it is the first one I went to as the BIG STORM did away with the trains for the last one.

I was really nervous as it was a big group coming along (35) and a few new members too. I needn't have worried though. We met in Cineworld Bar which was ideal really as we had it to ourselves pretty much then we headed up to the screen 15 mins before the film was due to start. With no trailers or adverts and our own cinema screen it was a great experience! Loved the film thought it was funny/sad. Great company too! 😍

Unfortunately on Saturday this dratted cold got the better of me so I called off going for Brunch with the Ayrshire group 😰

Sunday we had Afternoon Tea at The Potting Shed (this is not an actual shed as one of our group thought 😍) Great company, nice Pink Gin Fizz. The tea itself was fine, not spectacular but fine. Though after "Buttergate".....🥪

Getting myself organised for Glasgow Film Festival is taking longer than expected. I have made my list of what I need, what outfits etc but getting stuff IN the case isn't really happening. Need to get myself on that tonight as it is only two sleeps away. Eeeeek! 💼

i know people say it's not like I am going to the middle of nowhere but when you have fancy dress outfits for the Special Events to plan out you need to be organised. It's just one less thing to think about when you have planned things out. 👚

That's our Monday round up. After Dear Evan Hansen tomorrow night I will be on GFF25 life until Monday 10th March. Hoping to do a daily podcast round up each morning of the Film Festival so watch for that!

Ali 😘
