What a fabulous night we had last night at our first Wine Wednesday of the year, marking the beginning of what promises to be an exciting series of events! The atmosphere was chilled, filled with laughter and the clinking of glasses, as we all came together to celebrate the joy of good wine and even better company.
We reserved the charming upstairs area of Vroni's on Renfield Street, a delightful venue that we choose for our cheese & wine events every few months. This cosy space is perfect for small gatherings, allowing us to enjoy wine flights and a yummy cheeseboard in a relaxed setting. The ambiance was enhanced by soft lighting and heating making it an inviting place to unwind and socialise.
The selection of wine flights available was impressive, catering to a variety of tastes. Most folk opted for the robust red wine flight, which featured a fantastic array of full-bodied reds that were rich in flavour and matched the cheese. Meanwhile, some of us decided to indulge in the "Let's Get Fizzy With It" flight, which included a delightful trio of sparkling wines: a crisp prosecco, a refreshing crémant, and a vibrant rosé cava. Each sip was a celebration in itself, and the fizz added a festive touch to the evening. Lovely!
Last night's cheese selection was great, featuring a delightful array of flavours that paired beautifully with our wines. The mild cheddar offered a creamy and comforting taste, while the Shropshire Blue introduced a rich and tangy element. The goats cheese provided a delightful contrast with its soft texture and the camembert brought a luxurious creaminess that melted in the mouth. Accompanying these cheeses were an assortment of crunchy crackers, grapes and a tangy chutney that added the perfect finishing touch to our cheese experience. Very nice!
The staff at Vroni's truly deserve a shout-out for their great service. They were fantastic, running up and down the stairs all night with our wine flights, ensuring that everyone had their needs met. Their energy did not go unnoticed and we are grateful for their work in making our evening enjoyable. Well done to them for handling such a busynight with good humour and efficiency!
Last but certainly not least, the company was absolutely excellent. It was wonderful to catch up with people, share stories, and make new connections over our shared love of wine and cheese. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making the night so memorable. Your presence and laughter made the evening special.
